Glenmont Psychiatric Associates is a single-physician psychiatric practice serving adults in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. There are no nurse practitioners, physician assistants or trainees. The physician you speak to at the first appointment is the physician you see at every appointment afterwards.
Training
I am board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I completed residency training in psychiatry at Cooper University Hospital, where I served as Chief Resident, and as Clinical Instructor at Cooper Medical School at Rowan University, and pursued fellowship training in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Yale New Haven Hospital. I also hold a Master of Public Health, with prior work in health policy and biostatistics, from Boston University.
Consultation-liaison psychiatry is the psychiatric subspecialty practised at the interface with the rest of medicine. Fellowship in it is spent on inpatient medical, surgical , and intensive care unit services: delirium, catatonia, transplant management, capacity assessment, psychiatric presentations of neurological and endocrine disease, medication management in organ failure, and the cardiac and metabolic consequences of psychotropic treatment. It is not a common outpatient credential.
Conditions treated
Adults with:
- depressive disorders, including treatment-resistant presentations
- anxiety disorders and panic disorder, including presentations where a medical cause has not been excluded
- bipolar disorder
- psychiatric illness occurring alongside significant medical illness — cardiac, renal, hepatic, oncological, neurological, or post-transplant
- psychiatric symptoms arising from medication, withdrawal, or metabolic derangement
- cognitive complaints requiring differentiation from mood, medication effect, or neurological disease
Conditions not treated here
Being clear about this saves people time. I do not currently provide:
- care for patients under 18
- primary treatment of substance use disorders requiring medically supervised withdrawal
- psychotherapy as a standalone service — I refer for this and work alongside the therapist
